Topic
In Spring Term of Year 1 we cover a range of areas within our topic sessions. Within our science work, we explore everyday materials and their properties and also look at changes in the world over a period of time when we explore the seasons of Winter and Spring.
Through our English lessons, we will be exploring the roles of modern-day heroes who help us all, however, we also research the impact of heroes from the past, taking particular interest in Florence Nightingale. We will also look at the extraordinary Mae Carol Jemison.
Children will also be creating their own superhero brand as part of their English work. Through our DT work, we will design, create and evaluate a junk model car for their superhero and will also be creating a pop art poster to market our superhero to the world!
