English at Bay Primary School

At Bay Primary School our English curriculum is designed to teach and develop the skills of speaking and listening, reading and writing. We recognise that without these vital communication skills children can struggle both socially and academically. It is for this reason that these core skills from the National Curriculum are taught through a creative and purposeful thematic approach. We aim to make connections across the wider curriculum with English lessons providing an anchor for this learning. Pupils are given opportunities to read, discuss, write about and experience a wide range of topics. This dedication to increase each child's background knowledge and develop the skill of linking this knowledge ensures that our children know more and remember more.

Stay And Read November 2018

Bay Primary had a wonderful Stay and Read on Thursday 23rd November, with many families enjoying the opportunity to explore some winter and festive themed stories together. The hall was decorated with tinsel and lights and our brilliant Friends of Bay served hot chocolate and mince pies. We were delighted and overwhelmed by the number of families who joined us and we thank you all for your continued support in highlighting to our children the importance of reading.

We look forward to seeing you all again at our Spring Term Stay and Read sessions.
