Thank you for returning to Bay Primary School’s Maths blog. We have had a lot of fun learning our Times Tables, solving Maths problems and being enterprising. Please read on to find out more.
Masters of Maths
Another big congratulations to this half term’s Masters of Maths. You have shown that determination and resilience make fantastic mathematicians and I would like to say a big WELL DONE once again!
Times Tables Rock Stars
Teachers and children have been feeling the excitement rise this half term as we are beginning to become more confident with our Times Table Rock Stars. Children from Year 2 and upwards have been given the opportunity to practice appropriate times tables within Maths lessons but also as part of homework. They have been challenging themselves to climb the ladder to Rock Stardom by completing the Rock Star booklets but also taking part in the games online. Have you got what it takes to be a Times Table Rock Star?
The Fiver Challenge
Bay Primary School’s Pupil Ambassadors have worked closely with Friends of Bay to promote the Fiver Challenge through our very own Summer Fair. Each class from Year 1 to 6 were provided with the opportunity to learn about financial education, enterprise and the world of work by being given £5 to create a product or business idea which would make them the most profit. Competitions were run alongside these for: the best logo; the best presented booklet and most original idea. Well done to everybody who took part because we raised over £200 (final profit to be counted which will go out on the Newsletter). Thank you to FOBs and for everybody else who took part.
Year 1 and 2 Maths club taster sessions
We have thoroughly enjoyed getting outdoors with our Year 1 and Year 2 children to complete exciting Maths learning experiences. From learning about place value using chalk on the playground to estimating and measuring objects on and around the school, we learned how Maths can be taken outdoors to maximise our learning opportunities. I cannot wait to welcome back children for Maths Club in the new school year.
Goodbye Year 6
As another year has come to an end, I would like to thank the Year 6 Pupil Ambassadors for all of their creativity, responsibility and hard work which they have offered throughout their time as an Ambassador. We wish you, and all of the other Year 6 children, the best of luck for the future.
This year have been a great year for Maths learning at Bay Primary School and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all involved in making our children confident and resilient mathematicians. Thank you also for reading my blog. I am already looking forward to next year!
