What a busy and brilliant start to the Summer Term we have had! See the photos below that I have captured to show the fun Maths learning that has been going on around school.
MASTERS OF MATHS
First of all, let me congratulate our Masters of Maths for this half term. The teachers have been incredibly proud of the efforts, resilience and responsible learning that has been happening in Maths this half term. It is always a pleasure to award children who try hard and never give up.
Times Tables Rock Stars
As you should be aware, Children in Year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 have been given the opportunity to take part in our new programme: Times Tables Rock Stars. The aim is to enhance all children’s Times Tables recall speeds. The programme has been carefully sequenced and is being practised at least 3 times a week in class. Your children may even be given the opportunity to complete certain tasks as part of their homework.
Children have been extremely excited about it and have begun challenging themselves and others to be a Rock Star Super Hero. To find out more, please follow the link: https://ttrockstars.com/home.
The Apprentice Week
After half term, Y1 – 6 classes will be taking part in our very own ‘Fiver Challenge.’ ‘The Fiver Challenge provides a highly interactive, fun way of introducing financial education, enterprise and the world of work to Primary School Pupils as they aim to make as much profit as possible from £5.’ The Pupil Ambassadors have been working very hard to make this happen. The Pupil ambassadors have: prepared and delivered an assembly; created an information video; taken questions from classes and fed back further information as well as meeting with FOBs to arrange a date to sell their products and business ideas.
We are all very excited about this and cannot wait to get started. If you would like to find out more, follow the link below.
Due to the overwhelming response from Year 1 and 2 children who wanted a place at Maths Club next half term, we have decided to run some taster sessions with the plan being to give children an insight in to what will be expected during our Maths Club sessions. We are then going to open up the Maths Club in the Autumn Term to the children who would like to continue. The Maths Club will offer KS1 the opportunity to take part in fun, real-life maths games and puzzles to develop confidence in Maths as well as promoting resilience and problem solving. The children will have the chance to work together and enjoy maths activities around school. We cannot wait to begin.
We are really looking forward to see what next half term brings.
